A musician first
Leo Papa is a Sydney-based musician, producer, composer and pianist whose work brings together a strong classical foundation, jazz musicianship and contemporary production. Leo began playing piano from a young age and completed his Associate in Music, Australia (AMusA) through AMEB in 2024.
His interest in jazz, harmony and improvisation expanded his musical direction into contemporary performance, composition, arrangement and production. He was also accepted into the Rising Stars Jazz Program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
From 2023 to 2025, Leo attended The McDonald College in the Music Performing Arts stream, achieving a Band 6 in HSC Music. Selected by NESA for ENCORE 2026, he performed “A Night in Tunisia” at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall in March 2026, opening the second act alongside bassist Murray James and drummer Steve Lalamante.
As a producer, Leo works across pop, R&B, neo-soul, jazz and contemporary music, combining musicianship with production, arrangement and composition. His approach is collaborative and artist-focused, developing original ideas into complete recordings while preserving each artist's individual sound.
Piano and keyboards remain central to his work, alongside bass, guitar, arrangement and production. Leo also teaches piano and music privately and is developing a dedicated Sydney studio for writing, recording, production and collaboration.
